Ray Roig - Managing Director, Structured Finance

Ray Roig serves as Managing Director of Structured Products for The Riderwood Group. He is responsible for leading the firm’s efforts in the securitization and trading of various asset classes, including Senior Life Settlements and Intellectual Properties. In addition to the oversight of all Fixed Income trading for our firm, he is in charge of trading Life Insurance Settlements within the Riderwood broker network.

Mr. Roig was with Stifel Nicolaus/Legg Mason for ten years as a Vice President in the Fixed Income Capital Markets where he oversaw the Institutional Mortgage Backed Security (MBS) Trading Desk. He also created customized pools to meet client needs through the Fannie Mae MEGA and Freddie Mac GIANT programs. He held responsibility for sourcing, creating, and verifying pools made up of Community Reinvestment Act qualifying loans for financial institutions to meet their CRA needs. As the head of Institutional MBS Trading, he was responsible for the distribution of MBS and Structured Products to Legg Mason's institutional clients throughout the Legg Mason branch network. While at Legg Mason he was actively involved in the structuring, pricing and marketing of the firm’s first Commercial Mortgage Backed Security transaction, $572 million MLMI 1998-C1 CTL. He acted as a liaison between Legg Mason Capital Markets and Western Asset Management (WAMCO) during the structuring, pricing and distribution of $400 million Western Asset Arroyo CDO I and $500 million Western Asset Pasadena CDO.

Mr. Roig was also the primary trader of CMOs, Asset Backed Securities and Commercial MBS. He began his career as a U.S. Treasury Bond and Mortgage Backed Security Trader in 1981 with Alex Brown & Sons in Baltimore. In 1986, Mr. Roig joined NCNB (later NationsBank) in Charlotte, North Carolina as a senior MBS trader where he traded all products in the MBS market as well as Asset Backed Securities. In addition to trading, he was involved with the structuring and pricing of CMOs and private manufactured housing asset backed securities. After the formation of NationsBank in 1992, Mr. Roig became the Senior CMO Trader.

Mr. Roig is a graduate of Towson University with a B.S. in finance. He serves on various community service boards as well as the school board of Immaculate Conception School in Towson, Maryland.
